Uganda's Agricultural Export grew by 30% in three years

Government through the Ministry of Agriculture has revealed that the agricultural exports grew by 30.5% from USD 1.32bn worth of foreign revenue to USD 1.73bn in the last three years.

In the same period, the sector annual growth rose from 2.8% to 3.8% while contribution to national GDP has averaged at 24.3%

While presenting the progress registered in the sector in line with the pledges in the government's 2016 - 2021 manifesto, Agriculture Minister, Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempiija said the government prioritized maize due to its high potential for food security and contribution to national export earnings.
